I just got a 75 quid electrical shop coupon for subscribing to my new ISP and I'm wondering if I should invest in a new CPU.

Right now Im using an athlon 64 3500+, but I think the maximum my mobo can take is a 64 X2 6400+.

I've read people slating the X2's in comparison to intel's new lineup, core duo I think?

I know the 3500+ is a bit wank but its ok so far. If I'm gonna play TF2 alot then maybe its a good idea to upgrade since the source engine is heavier on cpu than others.

Anyone got any thoughts on what I should do? Should I just buy this mouse instead: http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/mice_ ... 0&cl=us,en

Hello mate. Looking at Tom's Hardware CPU charts might give you some perspective: http://www23.tomshardware.com/cpu_2007. ... &chart=420

Copy paste from another thread...nice comparison site there.

Fuck me the difference is massive. I might as well wait til I decide to upgrade my whole rig and go for an intel mobo.

Aren't new AMD cpus just around the corner? Properly made multicore rather than just 2 dual cores stuck together

Depends what you use your Pc for I guess. If you are purely gaming then not really worth going for the latest, greatest multicore.
