An elaborately bordered parchment decorates many walls of Stormwind City:

Dearest Citizens of our fair city.

With wars, there is always a price, and usually it is the lives of good men and women that are given to pay it. Through many centuries have we always honoured the dead who have died for our people, for our lands, for the Alliance.

The Silvermoon Crusade is no exception to this tradition. Thus, by order of the Stormwind City Council, a Mass Funeral shall be held on Sunday the 17th of June within the Cathedral of Light in Stormwind City. This funeral will give all to thank the dead for their sacrifices, and for everyone to see they are not alone in their grief for those who have been lost.

A prayer will be lead by Carinne Digory at 21:00, though we ask that those who wish to attend show up earlier to settle down into places so that all are ready to pay their respects. After the prayer, everyone is free to make their own personal farewells or to return to their business.

The Council humbly requests that people show reasonable respect in their clothing. Mourning clothes are preferable and a lack of weapons would also show respect.

The fallen will forever be Stormwind's finest.

Blizzard seriously need to look at Mythic's rpg events to get an idea of how to run a decent 'in character' event that will capture the imagination of rpgers.

I kinda agree with goose (thats a first), this is a lame attempt a RPG event, I bet the whole concept to finished event took like 5 minutes of work.

I just hate bad roleplay events. As a retired pointy hatter who's run quite a few games of pen & paper rpgs I always hated the 'tragic past' character backgrounds and storylines.

It is generally symbolic of bad roleplay and limited imagination in general. It's also likely to fail due to derision from non-rpgers which (imo) is quite right.

It has nothing of the inventiveness behind the orphans week or even the hallows eve or Christmas ideas put out in the past.

I'm very critical when a company making what is supposed to be a role playing game does something as shoddy as this as an event. Roleplayers deserve a little more effort and respect from the gaming community. Playing a game in character (whilst often good fun) is also very difficult. You just know this event will be interrupted by a raid on stormwind city by the horde and punctuated by 'commentary' in local.

Poor show imo.

Best Mythic DaoC event ever imo was the opening of Agramon. All 3 realms (approx 200+ players each) racing through 100s of high level purple mobs to get to the boss demon. Seriously huge pvp battle ftw!
