Now that Virgin Media have lost Sky1 my missus is demanding we get a sky subscription.
Problem 1: I fucking hate Murdock and all his kin.
Problem 3: I fucking hate Murdock and all his kin.
Problem 4: I can't count.

Was wondering if anyone downloads/streams any Sky1 programs (or other TV
) and how/where does one go about doing said downloading/streaming.

I could probably look this up but tbh I can't be arsed and I know one of you lot will do it for me, if only for the pleasure of calling me a lazy monkey tosser

Sorry? You mean Sky1 doesn't exist on cable TV anymore?

Macey put a post http://beta.fun4forums.co.uk/viewtopic.php?t=4236

depends on what you're after though I guess. I cba with TV at the moment but I used to use isohunt etc to get it. Fight the oppressors and don't get sky I'd say. Most of the stuff they show is fuckin repeats anyways and as you say Murdoch is a chelsea fan. I prefer Branson though even he seems to have a slight chelsea fan taint nowadays

Does that mean that things like the movies etc are gonna get pulled too?

Been looking for an excuse to bin NTL for a while tbh, although I imagine it's just as painful getting a BT line put in tbh.

Virgin wouldnt sign the deal sky wanted to allow them to screen Sky 1 and other channels..

Theres rumours that Sky Movies and Sky Sports will get pulled from Cable if things dont get resolved.

Which imo is financial suicide for Virgin Media as i would assume a lot of subscribers would cancel to sign up with Sky..

Ding Ding Round 2..

Would Virgin not be able to either produce their own move channel etc, get another one in or have Sky done by the Monopolies commission? It's all going towards moves on demand etc anyways, why would you need Sky Movies that forces you to watch them at set times?

the movies channels arent the deciding factor here ..

Sky Sports channels are big pullers tbh if Virgin lose them they wont be able to produce a set of channels that match as Sky have the rights to most of the big money events that sports fans watch..

Theres a lot of people that only want Sky/Cable for the premiership football.

Got Sky Sports or Sky Movies?

Then you can relax, these services are not affected. So you can keep enjoying them - just as you've always done.
Whats happened to the basic channels?

* As you may have heard, we've spent the last few weeks trying to make sure that all of Sky's channels remain on Virgin Media.
* But Sky asked us to pay such an unrealistically high price that keeping them would mean asking you to pay the kind of increase that is simply unfair.
* We refuse to stand by and see our customers get ripped off.
* So thanks to Sky, some of their non-premium channels, like Sky One and Sky News have disappeared from our service.

Freeview customers set to lose channels too

Virgin Media customers are not the only people to feel the brunt of Sky's bullying tactics. Freeview customers are affected, too. Sky announced that it will be removing its channels from the Freeview service before the summer.

mininova.org - search for your series, set it downloading.

Use Azureus as the client chap, but if you're using a router then you'll need to forward some specific ports onto your PC's IP

Just a point to add. Don't assume that all free to air channels (i.e. those you can get free by buying a set top digibox) are free on Sky. I got Sky so that I could record the motorcycle races on Sky+. Unfortunately, Sky have placed Eurosport on a package that you have to pay for. I'm seriously wondering why I bothered tbh.

I'll probably dump Sky when my contract runs out and get a PVR/set top box.

Thanks all. Found a lot of stuff here http://www.alloftv.net

I think I've managed to deflect the wifes screeching about buying Sky for the moment.
It's not just VM that have lost Sky news/sport news, it's been removed from Freeview as well. Murdock is a fucking control freak tbh.
Personally I wish Murdock would 'do a Maxwell'.

I just hope Branson pours some time and money into VM, if only in the one upman stakes against Murdock. I don't see why they don't create a Virgin 1 to rival sky. It would be nice to see them bidding for the sport as well. Let's face it, Branson has more money than BBC/ITV together.

Just heard on the radio that the NCC might get involved and both parties would rather avoid that. So who knows. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/6410435.stm
As long as nothing interferes with my streaming porn I'm as happy as whelan at a fat lass convention.

here some news that is true .

sky had offered the channels sky 1,2,3 and sports news and news for 3p per customer per day.

and virgin said no basically - it was skys last offer before talks broke down completely.

both sky and virgin are Arsenal Supporters

it means basically we would of had to pay 21p a week and for a month just 84p.

Have seen it in multiple papers - says to me thier is more than just this problem
