The worst part about all these virus outbreaks is the MASSIVE amount of emails it generates. Not the virus itself, but every damn user wanting to help and send the message to all of his/her friends. Pisses me off every time.

I actually thought you were joking around.

Those things have been catching people out for ages. They're intended to get you to panic and email as many people as possible, normally getting yourself ridiculed in the process.

Firstly - No virus company EVER emails people to warn them about virii. They do it via security response pages.

if ever you get what appears to be a virus warning again - try this site -
http://www.symantec.com/home_homeoffice ... _virus.jsp

stick the subject of the email in there and it will check the database to see if it's a reported hoax or not
