I have been looking into the different rep rewards from the 2 groups. I need to select one before I can set my hearth stone to Shattrath City I think.

Looking at the comparison here http://www.wowwiki.com/Comparison_of_Aldor_and_Scryer_rewards I have concluded that both groups are pretty shit for a holy paladin. The healing staff looks really sweet, but ofc we pala's cannot use staves...

Im thinking of respecing while im levelling up to try and improve my DPS, which makes the choice even harder!

I guess the choice is between these items (quoted from the Talk tab on the above linked page....)

Aldor
Lightwarding Band (finger) +18 agil +27 stam & atk pwr 38
Medalion of Lightbearer (neck) +16 stam +28 int +6 Mana 5 secs
or

Scryer
Bloodgem (trinket) spell hit +32 Spell dam +150 & heal 280
Seer's Signet (finger) +22 stam Spell crit +11 Dmg / Heal spells +33

The above would sway me towards Scryer, but then the shoulder enchants for Aldor are better... Not an easy decision. Rather than deciding which is best its more like like deciding which is least shit!

Anyone else got a view on this?
Jewelcrafters can make either shadow res or nature res necklaces, so I guess we should aim for one of each at least in the guild?

According to that site I should be going Alders. I still have absoloutely no idea who these people are or why I'm supposed to pick sides. I'm assuming it's post Zangamarsh where I seem to be stuck doing quest after quest after quest.

Yeah the main city of Shattrath is just round the corner, and is the place where the portals to SW, IF etc are located.
I think it will end up being the place where I set my hearthstone, but (I think) you have to pick a side before you can have an inn there.

Like you I am currently 'bogged down' in Zanga, but will be wanting to make the decision pretty soon i think.

I have set my HS to Shattrah. But nobody asked me to choose a side if I remember right when I talked to the innkeeper of the inn on the Aldor site.

I had a look at it and I think I will choose Aldor.

Quote:
Vindicator's Brand
Binds when picked up
Unique
One-Hand Sword
143 - 267 Damage Speed 2.60
(78.8 damage per second)
Requires Level 70
Requires The Aldor - Exalted
Equip: Improves hit rating by 18.
Equip: Increases attack power by 38.

is the only 1 of the provided weapons I can use. The AP-ring is quite nice too. Also Aldor does have the better healing enchant on shoulders and the FR craftable gear. Dunno where and if we will need Arcane Res gear in the future... Would be good if another active blacksmith went the Scryer path to have both resistance gears available if necessary.

As far as I can make out the Aldor/Scryer decision is quite important. There's trainers for various crafts on each side (I think JC and Tailoring for Aldor, LW and BS for Scryer, but that's just off the top of my head, and there are trainers elsewhere, just Shattrath is handier to get to.)

Lore-wise, the Aldor are the remaining unbroken Draenei and the Scryers are renegade Bloodelves, so they don't really like each other but are otherwise neutral.

I also hear rumours that you hand in the stuff for Tier 4 to these factions, but it doesn't matter who you go for as long as you get plenty of rep with them.

Just wondering what the benefit of the FR gear from Aldor is over dark iron stuff. Seems to be more stam and FR and armour, but can't see what the set bonus is. I'd imagine arcane resist will come in handy as there's been nothing really so far apart from Shazz that needs Arcane, well that we've come across.

Luke - the dudes in the middle of the city by the big floaty things ask you to choose a side.

You have to go on a tour of the city and listen to some boring flesh-coloured voidwalker prattle on about some ancient battle and other irrelevant historical facts.

I chose Scryers for the following reasons..

Aldor seems from what i can see and read be a healer orientated option. All the tailor patterns are for +heal gear .. (which for me is a load of old spunk)

Scryers are the opposite more damage orientated. Ok so they dont get any tailor patterns but I do get the +dmg spellweave threads.

and based on that i choose Scryers .. Fukin freaked me out when everyone in Shattrath turn red and aggro :O
