Well that wasn't pretty.. 16 yellow with 4 red.
Boularhouz' kick with Ronaldo wasn't very pretty, but Figo's actions were really low.
Although I did like the fact he went of crying like a baby, selfish tard.

With almost every portugese player on yellow, I don't think england should be really worried

I dunno n3m

We should give up and go home now according to the media and all sorts of other half-wits over here.

Seems most media pundits have forgotten one simple rule of football. 25 pass wonder goals are all very well but if you score one perfect goal and concede 2 it's game over. ;)

I was gutted for Van Nistelroy tbh. I think he's the most dangerous dutch striker by a mile - that Dirk Kuyt looked awful, I'm assuming he had poor service and a poor world cup in general because on that showing I'm stunned he was in the side. That stupidly long named sub looked a far more potent threat in the centre.

I felt sorry for deco and I was really disappointed with the diving from both sides. It's posted on rtcw that I thought it was a terrible shame that two of the most skillful sides in the competition resorted to simulation and dives to try and win the game. The ref was crap but the players didn't half try to take advantage of his card happy performance.

With a Van Nistelrooy on I think we'd be facing Holland in the next round, not portugal. He certainly would've got on the end of some of those crosses.

That's football.......... I haven't seen one match this whole world cup that didn't have blatant cynical cheating in it.

aye but rugger is the same mate - it's just most of the cheating is hidden in the scrum or on the floor. The all blacks are masters of it.

Last night was the biggest laugh i've had in a while from a game tbh. In hindsight all the ref did was folllow the rules to the letter and give yellows where dictated by the FIFA rulebook. It's just a display of how the FIFA is fucking up the game with silly little rules that break rythm, style and the fun of the game.

There were some blatant fouls made that deserved yellow or even red (Boularouz vs Ronald0 anyone  ) but that's football. If anyone's guilty of this fiasco it's prolly FIFA rather then the 2 teams.

I'm thankful that we're not going to be playing Holland (Soz to the Dutch gings :(). Having Decco and Costinha out for our next game is a bonus. No doubt Ronaldo will recover from his bruised thigh to do some fancy dribbling, finished off with a poor delivery in to the box. I'm still waiting for the badly timed tackle on Rooney's dodgy foot. We've already proved he's a key team player (diplomatic version of: can't play without him) so I don't think it will be long coming. I'm more positive about our chances of going through to the semi-finals now than I was last night

I still think the team is fucking terrible. John Terry was a joke yesterday, when I saw Carragher warming up I assumed Terry was going off for him to play in the same position he plays his club football. Midfield was bad too, for the past few years everyone has been going on about how great Lampard is and that Gerrard is nowhere near as good but I'm 100% sure if it had been Lampard passing to Gerrard constantly last night rather than Gerrard passing to Lampard they'd have been a hell of a lot more shots on targets than the shite Lampard was producing. He just seemed to belly flop every 5 minutes in between hoofing the ball forward or scuffing a shot.

Yeah it's a shame van Nistelrooy wasn't playing, he's very good and
would probably have changed the outcome of the match.
Together with van Persie and Robben (if he would only stop diving)
would be a very dangerous team.
I feel sorry for van der Sar, despite the ball he let slip (that cracked
me up). He was really the best man on our side.
Best keeper in the world even.

Kuijt can kiss my arse and go back to do his commercials and
be "popular", he never deserved to be (t)here. imo

But I agree, FIFA really fucked up. The smallest fouls are punished
by cards, and just stop the game. van Basten said we probably
only saw 20 mins of football in the second half, I don't think he's
far off with that statement.

I did laugh about the childish behavior on both sides, like the pushing.
Then half the portugese team getting a card. That was just silly.

BTW, what was Costinho thinking :?

//edit:
I see BL can still talk out of his arse :p

I agree Nistelrooy is probably 2nd only to Schevchenko in the best finishers in the world. It was a big mistake hes a big game player and would have finished some of those chances last night even on a bad day for himself.

Van Nistelrooy is a brilliant finisher and a sucky footballer period. Van Basten was opting for a striker that can actually do more with a ball then just lunge it at goal I think. He didn't really shine in the 1st 3 games either.

That'd be something, the coach stepping in and winning the match. :D

van Nistelrooy might not be the best teamplayer but his finishes by far outshine Kuyt's overall performance.

Van Nistelrooy might do nothing outside the box, Kuyt just does nothing. Period.

If he can play for holland so can i :)

Eh? I thought he was dropped because he hadn't scored? Same reason he was a bench warmer for Man Utd this season.

Just checked and he scored the second goal against the mighty Ivory Coast. He's a Man Utd player so I'm never going to like him :D

It kinda appears that England will go through vs Portugal. With 2 possibly 3 key players form the portugal side & a stack of yellow cards it would take England to play worse than they already have so far not to get through. Shame that England haven't had a testing game yet, who knows how they will fair against a proper team that is playing well. You guys usually get to the Q's or the Semi's then fuck it up, but usually you've had a few hard games on the way, this time its different.
