This is just a thought atm looking to retain decent pet skills but boost my damage output for ranged attacks.Any suggestions will be appreciated .
In choosing as I have was trying to avoid spending points that might give damage once in blue moon in favour of more constant damage output
( if that makes any sense ???)

Sorry, but when I see hunters ploughing talents into their pet I lose all interest in their existence.

Who's playing this game, you or your pet?

Thjs is where I see Dacovale being @ 60

http://www.wowhead.com/talent/?mE0h0gZgVohtht

What do you think guys?

I don't really like anything else in marksmanship and the 20 points in beastmastery are really to do with survivability of pet / improved aspect of the hawk

Thoughts?

M

just thought id point out my spec atm is for PVE farming mainly but i do find the bestial wrath and pet stun handy in pvp.

IAotH is alright... It procs nicely and quite often if you have a fast weapon.

It really depends how you see yourself playing at 60. If you're gonna be running instances and raids, then I wouldn't put anything into BM.

You're keeping your pet alive, which is ok if you are solo grinding, but it also means kills are slower cos dps is down.

A good all round build at 60 would be:
http://www.wowhead.com/talent/?VZiVohthtIhbVoh

This way, you're got TSA to give the group and maximum ranged damage.

Once you've got your agi past 460+, then I recommend this spec:
http://www.wowhead.com/talent/?mZqVohtZILbVohux

What you lose on Barrage and TSA, you make up for on Lightning Reflexes.

I'm really biased against BM-specced hunters. As Xui has said, BW is a certain towel-wearer killer in PvP, and there's no doubt that a BM-specced pet won't be losing aggro in PvE grinding.

But... I just think, if you are called a 'hunter' and you primary attribute is ranged DPS then that's where the talents should be ploughed. I mean, some BM-specced pets are like crazed fury warriors, harks to those rogue-druid-wannabes tbh. Just cos you can, doesn't mean you should.

See this is it

I really wouldn't want to lose iaoth. I always use fast bows, I know the burst damage is lower but I find solo it's easier to manage aggro (and most of my levelling is solo) and in pvp it's a caster killer. You add the rapid shocks proc on to it and I'm a veritable killing machine in pve and pvp.

I like your second build but again - I would want to try and keep iaoth in there somewhere just for that lovely chance to proc machine gun style

Would you be aiming for +agi or +ap now minx? I've currently sitting at around +140 agility I think at level 49 with primarily green shit gear that's not really worth chanting to improve as I know it's only going to get me so far. At some point I'd hope to be hitting some of the instances for the sexy ass mail that drops.

I had IAotH for months, and I couldn't imagine dropping it. Til I did, and now I don't think i'll ever take it again :P

It sure is lovely, and if you like the machine gun proc (when that happens hit rapid fire and devilsaur eye for proper pwnage) then keep it matey. It's defo more useful for fast bows. If (read: when) you get the Ancient Bone Bow, it won't proc as often unfort, so maybe then you'll want to rethink.

The 2nd build is good for PvP too, but again it really won't work for ya until you go 460+ agi.

Until a couple of months ago I was AP/RAP all the way, and it paid dividends with DPS output. Until you're in full tier 0/high-end gear, i'd concentrate on AP/RAP. The Devilsaur Eye (the class q in Azshara, which I think you can get next level) is gonna be really handy for you until you hit 60 (well, until you get Royal Seal and Blackhand 2% Thingy).

I now concentrate on agi cos I have relatively end-game gear (ok, no tier 1/2, but the set bonuses from ZG/0.5/0 outweigh tier 1 imbaly) and with enchants across the board i'm sitting at ~620agi fully buffed. Obviously, this helps my dodge, armour, crit etc.

I don't see a clear cookie-cutter hunter model anymore, I just can't stress my loath for BM spec enough, the purist chelsea fan that I am

I think my hunter is 5/34/12, don’t use it often enough but if I did it would be 0/31/20 for the time being.

There are 3 really good bows you can get really easily

Bloodseeker
http://www.thottbot.com/?i=40260
Reward from winning Alterac Valley. IaotH is crap with it

Ancient Bone Bow
http://www.thottbot.com/?i=37260
Scholo, iaoth is crap again

Eaglehorn Long Bow
http://www.thottbot.com/?i=36112
iaoth is great, it’s so fast that you spend so much money on arrows. Great for PVP though.

I don’t see the point unless you really want to have a character for farming to have any points in your pet. Iaoth is not pet points to me.

It’s the same with a lot of classes though. Warriors really benefit from protection points until they get better gear, hunters really benefit from their pet until they get better gear. Then go MM/surv until X amount of agi then surv/MM cos its better.

BM/MM is a solo pve/pvp spec if you have any interest of raiding I’d lose BM and iaoth

well tbh

I doubt we'll EVER be short of hunters in raids. EVER

but if we ever are - I'd take Dacovale. I'm using her for farming atm whilst I grind quests to 60 at which point she will be my main source of income and materials for crafting. At that point i might want to sort her out some nice dps gear.

After 1.11 (when they implement the respec cost reduction over time) I will be respeccing isquish to DPS tank from hybrid and I'll be considering a respec on dupa.

I'll be surprised if I do respec dupa tho because once I start getting some more +dmg gear my dps should go through the roof again. The next landmark is +600 spell damage at which point I'm looking at guarranteed crits of 3500+ With azlarok, Thora and papa with demonology builds I feel Dupa brings good solid sustained dps to fights whilst they add more utility around her. IF we were to lose locks and my lack of improved healthstone/imp were an issue I would consider a respec for the good of the raid :)

Just thought I would post current spec here for BM build .So far found it excellent for solo and good in instances.Problems will come I think in high end instances where pet will die loads.Note to the wise though dragonhawks are really fun pets but their cone of flame attack brings more fun than u need at times  .Life is simpler with a cat .

Just played with talent calc for a bit with a view to Marksman spec for high end places
http://www.wow-europe.com/en/info/basic ... 0000000000
Any thoughts would be appreciated ,but may not be implemented
BM bits seem to give both me and the pet a chance to live longer .
