Hi Folks

You may remember me buying Warhammer 40k: Dawn of War and the Exapnsion pack Winter Assault.

They were really good fun but very short so I am now thinking again about purchasing a new RTS game to play when we're not raiding in WoW or when I don't feel like farming...

Galactic Civilisations 2 is a game I was looking at recently and with it being reduced to £18 delivered I may well buy it. http://www.gamespot.com/pc/strategy/gal ... q=galactic

As you can see it's had a very good review at gamespot and they're not often wrong...

I'm also thinking about picking up Star Wars: Empire at War but I am less sure of this. I've played Star Wars RTS games before and I found them underwhelming to say the least. I wonder whether this would disappoint me or not. Again - Gamespot have given it a good review..

Which would you choose, and why? :)

id be wary of SW-EAW mainly because their last effort at a RTS was absolute gash

The Star Wars one looks more my kind of thing, though that's not a valid reason for you to buy it :P If it were then I'd say get Black & White 2 instead cos that's the game I want but keep forgetting to buy

Just based upon previous performance of the franchise I would avoid them like the plague.

My suggestion would be Civ IV as it's turn based so it's easy to walk away from when you shouted by the wife/sprog.

Or how about C&C the first decade? That's a lot of quality RTS gaming for a couple of quid.

Got starcraft and had warcraft 3. I leant it to a friend, asked him for it back the other day to find out he 'didn't' borrow it from me...

Dizzy blonde has probably misplaced it :/

I'm going to buy it again as I can get it for £8 and then buy the expansion for another £8

:)

I always loved Turn based Strategy games.

Started With Historyline, then The Battle Isle series, they were awesome.

You bought Galactic Civs. yet goose?

yeah I have that olav - it's fun but I wanted a more space combatty type game - I had visions of huge fleets battling off against themselves with me in control. Galactic Civ is a bit more like Civ 4 which is fun but not really what I was after
