Decided to let my account run out this month since it took a serious nosedive for me over the past 2 weeks.

The amount of raiding needed to win at BWL is insane, we were doing it every night from 4.30pm-12am most week nights and I got uber burnout. And thats not to mention the preparation needed for most of it, like consumables, fire res gear (now shadow res, and nature res too), and the amount of gold you rattle through - luckily I had mostly blues on my priest in BWL, but those with full epic sets were paying 13g+ at each repair bot and there were sometimes 2 repair bots per night :S

It seems to be World of Clonecraft atm as well, with every class looking the same as each other, its sadly lost its originality and fun for me and has turned into a complete chore.

I'll defo return for the expansion, but for now I'm back in EVE xD.
Much less to do, but the suspense level is right up there now that I've started PvPing. Reminds me a bit of Neocron.

Yeah I've heard it's a total fuckup, cos EVE has been getting all the rejects from SWG recently and they whine non-stop about it.

But tbh, it does sounds intriguing, I quite fancy running about jamming the fire button instead of waiting for ticks.

tbh i've been pvping loads, and the game's design has leveled stuff out in the sens that any weapon/class does exactly the same so it is just an fps shooter in a way. However there are some pretty big exploits in use and tbh like most games when people are using them it just sucks for everyone else. If it were free I'd say give it a bash, but its noth worth nearly a tenner.

Think WoW has reached the end of its shelf life for me too. Subs run out on boxing day, but I can't see myself renewing or barely playing up until then.

Toyed with the idea of EVE as it's only £5 at GAME but I think my gaming will be demoted to things that have a PAUSE button facility.

Next game I'm looking forward to I think is probably D&D online and the new morrowind game.

I dunno if you'd like the playstyle of EVE or not, but it's learning system would suit your lifestyle. You train new skills by setting the skill in action and waiting for it to finish, and it trains while you're offline. So no need for constant attention to progress.

Might have a peek at D&D myself, but I'll prolly wait for it to get a lot of praise before I do.

Have thought about reactivating and trying to get into combat properly but I got fucked off last time as I got ther shit kicked out of me in one of the instances and couldnt get my bits back. And the whole process of getting new bits+new ship all in 1 loc is a pain.

I reactivated about a week and a half ago, havent touched it since the start of the year tho.

I joined a big UK corp and so far its ok. They have a pvp division which I'll be going into soon enough but on the whole they're a bit carebear and I'm not sure I'm gonna stick. They're part of 'The 5' alliance and have access to their own 0.0 space which seems to be in contetion between other alliances atm so I'm definitely gonna see a fair bit of action in the coming weeks.

Theres an absolute shitload of new content in the game since last time I played, and in a couple of weeks they're releasing their biggest content patch yet. Dreadnoughts were in last patch, Titans are in this one. The scale is getting crazy:

Dreads are selling for around 1.5-2bill on escrow, freighters at around 1-1.5bill.

The estimated build costs for carriers are 750m, motherships 4b, and titans 45b. Then you'd need to factor in labour and time. Takes 28 days to make the components for a titan, then 2 months to build it. Needless to say, you won't see many in them, and you won't see them on the market

The game is getting more and more popular, they keep breaking their record. Last total was 18k+ on the server with 80k active accounts. They're opening a new server in China so the cash is gonna be flowing in, and they've said theres a shitload more they want to implement, including their 'holy grail': planetary interaction

Got to admit they look cool as fuck...

If the two games were be merged, I could carpet bomb your entire server population with a single battlecruiser. Therefore:

EVE > DaoC

It was good while it lasted, however, it's dated, same shit as before having played to 50 on both Albion and Midgard, shallow boring and uninteresting quests, laborious levelling and the only saving grace is a bit of keep taking and relic raiding which needs a well organised server to work properly.

I enjoyed DAoC when I played it, but lets be honest it's had its day now and has been shown up by the likes of WoW's questing and worldsize, it's a shame that WoW can't get its endgame sorted else it would have retained my subs.

I'm backing off MMO's until into the new year probably, just arsing about in CS:Source and some SP stuff seeing as I've got a shitload of games I've not completed sat on my shelf, although those ships in EVE do look pretty tasty....

I agree about the DAoC's questing aspects but then again I've never been a fan of quests. I usually just click through all the text/dialogue and work from what the questlog (hopefully) tells me in order to get the quest reward.
I don't agree that DAoC has had it's day. Mythic continues to develop content and conduct polls via the logon screens (on U.S. servers) to establish what players want most. PvP continues to evolve and, although frustrating at times, is a great laugh and provides a way to further progress past level 50. If the graphics make a game for you then it's true that DAoC might not be your first choice.

I still think it lacks content as your levelling through to the end level, your choices are grind or grind and I really think it is showing it's age now compared to WoW or EQ2 in terms of it's content not just the GFX.

Seeing as the game has been around for so long I really would have expected the quests to have been far more developed, I used to click thru the text too in DAoC, but since playing WoW I've got used to reading the text and actually working out what to do in the quests.

It just seems to me that there are more developed games out there to buy and pay my money on every month than DAoC, I don't think that it can actually offer me anything new compared to the experience I have already had with it even though I've finished playing it about a year ago, same shit different server, I just don't think it's worth my hard earned cash anymore compared to its peers.

I don't think there's so much difference in content. Most MMO's have quests, equipment, crafting, dungeons, instances, boss mobs, PvE, PvP, etc. It's how it's implemented that makes a difference. Where WoW has advantages in some areas, you could argue the positives for DAoC in another. But I guess it boils down to what you enjoy doing most that separates out the game you want to play.

The main point being though, I've already spent 2 years or so playing DAoC before, played 2 realms to 50 and I don't see anything that is that substantially new enough or interesting enough that would make me want to give Mythic some more cash.

It lasted longer that WoW for me, but because it has nowhere near the same amount of quests and crafting is tedious to say the least I just don't think that DAoC has enough repeatability to make me want to level yet another char to 50 and then mill about in RvR.

I really want to play something new and refreshing, but I think I'm going to find it difficult looking at what's available atm and the amount of time I'm likely to have available for gaming.

I'll keep my eyes posted on D&D online, I am finding the fact that I can get EVE with a months subs for £6.50 quite interesting, but I played in teh BETA and I really didn't like, but those ships do look lovely....
