...only when some chelsea fan drove into the side of me while I was driving down a motorway and drove off.

Police weren't overly bothered, would have been different if I had been speeding no doubt.

That totalled your car ?

Bear in mind if they hit you from behind it is pretty much 100% there fault.

Aye someone ran into the back of my clio sport when I was sat at a set of lights, was 100% their fault but I did find out what a bunch of ambulance chasing Arsenal Supporters the insurance companies are.

They claim they people claiming injuries are pushing up premiums, but my insurance company made me a set of appointments to see a specialist regarding injuries without consulting me.

I had a stiff neck for a day and that was it, so I told them to I wouldn't be attending and if they made any more appointments without consulting me I would be cancelling my policy with them.

While they claim that no fault claims with 100% costs recovered make no odds to your premiums, I'm not so sure based on experience.

Hope you're feeling better soon.

What car did you get in the end? Hope your injuries aren't too bad and that you get it sorted with a minimum of hassle. Looking on the bright side..... at least no maccam is going to try to nick it now and you'll be able to squeeze into parking spaces á la smart car stylee.

I got a Mondeo 2.0 Tdci Zetec S, got to arrange an inspection today the other guys car is a write off, mine does not look to bad apart from the bumper but when I looked at it closer yesterday the left side of the boot is about 2 inches right of where it should be.

that sucks man - hope you're ok :)

sounds pretty clearly that its his fault if he rear-ended you (bet you liked it really didnt you ;) but i reckon if the damage isnt too extensive then itd probs be best to just bite the bullet and pay for the repairs yourself cos no matter what the insurance co. tells you they will increase your premiums if you claim cos they're Arsenal Supporters :)

Harsh .. The main thing is apart from a few aches your ok and can now proceed to claim of the guys insurance..

Only real accident ive had is on the M25. Car in front was about to move to the middle lane when another came screaming up that lane undertaking everyone. The car infront of me swerved to miss him and slammed her brakes on. I had the choice of the car or a solid wall to run into i decided the car was softer and rammed straight into the back right corner. I think i was doing about 80 when i hit.

Had a few near misses too like driving in the gravel in the gravel in the middle to avoid someone who pulled out infront of me.

I would think any cost will be from his insurance he has admitted responsibilty, he told the Police he didnt see me :p fuck knows how he failed to see a huge Silver car in the middle of the road indicating. The Policeman said he might say you were not indicating and I started laughing, he asked me why I was laughing when I pointed out that if he failed to see me at all he could hardly say I was not indicating.

Been invloved in a few crashes afraid to say. One my fault, the others not.

Things I've learnt are:

- The process to get the money out of the feckers takes forever.
- If you have an excess charge, you will be required to pay this as soon as the work has started on your car. If the process, as above, takes a long time, you don't get that back until the process is complete.

This happened with the wife's car when she got shunted up the back. The damage to the wife's car was minor, so we didn't get it fixed until blame had been allocated. This took18 months. If we'd had the work done straight away i would have spent 18 months without £300 of our money. Glad we didn't!

- I'm with Neily on the lawyer front. Had exactly the same thing happen with Jo. Funnily enough we said exactly the same thing! I hate fooking abulance chasers.

- Other than that, if no witneses have come forward, it really depends on how much of a "honest" person is the bloke who ran in to is. If he's a clever arsey c*nt, he may change his story completely and say that he only said what he did because he was in shock. His solicitors may even suggest this course of action.

Make sure you document everything about the accident now while it's fresh in your mind and document everything the policeman said as well. Make sure you have his name or PC number as well.

Hope this helps.

Sorry that you're having to deal with all the stress of it tbh.
