Just a warning to any guilds out there that a new scam has appeared that can result in you loosing the contents of your banks.


The scammer checks the armoury for the names of officers and GM's.
He then makes sure the GM is not online and creates a level 1 character that sounds like the GM's bank character.
He will /w an officer for an invite pretending to be the GM and gets promoted of officer alt or whatever rank.

The contents of the bank are then cleared out and he posts the lot to a main char and logs off.


Some hit the most progressed guild on Arathor and about 6 other guilds before anyone could react.

Blizz found this guy and have perma banned all his accounts, but that dont mean others will not try it. Just be wary who gets invited to your guild

Worth reading here to see what happened to a GM whose account got hacked and how to avoid it...

(on checking some of the details seem to have gone, essentially he used a friends computer to introduce them to WOW, they had a keylogger on, a gold farmer came on and stripped his toons - multiple L70's, of everything they could, and also wiped the guild bank out. This = how to avoid such happenings, can't seem to find the actual thread anymore)
