The Burning Crusade has come to the World of Warcraft, and with it a host of new and terrifying creatures.

But amongst these new deadly denizens of the world, there have come some usurpers. Titles that were once unique to certain monsters are now used by others! This must be settled.

And so was born - the Title Fight.

The premise is simple: if two creatures somewhere in Azeroth share a title, they must fight it out between each other to see who earns the sole right to that name.

They will fight as they appear in the game, at the same level, with all their abilities, but not be immune to certain effects as they might be simply because they are bosses, for example, if one of them has a Fear effect, the other will not be immune to the Fear if they usually would be simply because this would make a boss fight far too easy in a PvE situation.

Also, we can give the AI a little poetic license for the sake of entertainment. Mobs may be hard in a fight, but since most of them require some tactics beyond the basic hitting, we can assume they know their foe and will act accordingly rather than blindly rushing into the fray.

Let battle commence!

Round 1: Title - The Unscarred

Our first fight is between two big blue bosses. Let's take a look at our contenders:

In the blue corner, the original title-holder and reigning champion of the Ruins of Ahn-Qiraj:
Ossirian the Unscarred

Level: ?? Boss (60 instance)

Abilities: Supreme Mode - Super-fast and virtually invulnerable, needs to be dispelled by his handy crystals.
Enveloping Winds - 8s stun on the person who has aggro, changing aggro target.
Tornadoes - Patrol the area around him, and hurt.
Curse of Tongues - AOE Curse of Tongues around Ossirian.
Warstomp - Short range AOE spell that hits for 1500 damage and knocks the target back.

And in the, er, slightly more purple corner, the challenger, hailing from the Heroic Mode Ramparts of Hellfire Citadel:
Omor the Unscarred

Level: 72 elite

Abilities:
Shadow Bolt: 2-3k shadow
Bane of Treachery: 4500 every 2 secs shadow damage to all friendlies within 20 yards of the target.
Summon Felhounds: Felhounds with 8k health and a 3k mana/1.5k health mana burn.
Shadow Whip: Throw the target back and forth in the air for a few seconds.
Reflect Magic occasionally below 20% health.

Since Ossirian is all but invulnerable without his crystals to de-supreme him, we're going to make this a home match for him to give Omor some chance, and also allow Omor his heroic mode stats - he is challenging a full-fledged raid boss after all.

Let bloodshed begin!

The fight begins, and Omor belligerently shouts 'You dare challenge me?!' as he has a habit of doing despite any odds. This is drowned out by Ossirian's resounding bellow for the 'Sands of the Desert' to 'Rise and block out the sun!'

With the atmosphere changing to a murky red, Omor feels more at home as it reminds him of his post at Hellfire. Except, without the 50ft enraged Horusath thundering towards him murderously.

Knowing his Bane of Treachery is going to be no use against a single target, and that Ossirian's Supreme clobbering will probably 2-hit him, he distracts the advancing colossus with a quickly-summoned Felhound, and makes a wing-power dash for the nearest Crystal. Activating it as Ossirian barely pauses to swat the minion out of his way, Omor quickly turns his Shadow Whip on the colossus, throwing him upwards, around Omor's head for a moment or so, then away. Startled by his sudden vulnerability and actually being lifted and moved around, Ossirian is disorientated for a while, giving Omor the chance to fire off a shadowbolt or two and summon another pair of Felhounds.

Omor backs away from Ossirian towards the next crystal before the Qiraji champion regains his supremacy, and in a moment of inspiration, attempts to cast Bane of Treachery on the crystal next to Ossirian. Surprisingly, (and perhaps slightly illegally) this works, and the crystal is not only weakening Ossirian but also doing a high-damage shadow pulse that saps the giant's health as he moves towards the cunning demon, letting off a War Stomp on his felhound lackeys as they make futile bites at his ankles and occasionally burn some of his mana as best they can with previously-applied Curse of Tongues, knocking them away and halving their health. Omor is putting up a good fight in this seemingly unmatched battle, as he activates the second crystal and reapplies Bane of Treachery to it.

Ossirian chooses this moment to strike back. Casting Enveloping Winds on the Ered'ruin lord, he turns to the annoying Felhounds, and while he is between both crystals he regains his Supreme form and promptly flattens the two tiny demon dogs at his feet and the third that had arrived as Omor prepared the next crystal.

Omor returns to the ground to find Ossirian towering over him, and receives a couple of crushing slaps from the massive overlord. However, since he is still near the crystal, he survives the pummeling relatively well, and backs away, gaining some distance with another well-timed Shadow Whip and keeping Ossirian going down with the AoE damage aura from the crystal. The cost of not looking where he was going, however, is that he blunders into a Tornado that has moved into the space before the next crystal. Even 5-man Heroic bosses can't take this kind of punishment for too long, and he quickly moves out of the damaging winds.

This mistake has cost him, however. The quickest path out of the Tornado has put it between him and the nearest crystal, so he must take a longer route to get to it, and Ossirian is coming after him again. Another Felhound is sent to defend, and Omor pelts across the hot sand, firing a shadowbolt behind him and a dose of Bane of Treachery ahead to the crystal in preparation.

The shadowbolt proves to be his undoing. While Ossirian is distracted by the Felhound and stops to pound it into the ground, the shadowbolt lures him away, and out in the open once more he regains Supreme mode. Omor is caught a good few steps from the crystal by a devastating blow, and is all but destroyed as he reaches the relative safety of the crystal and weakens Ossirian once more. He summons more Felhunters and vainly attempts to shadowbolt the Horusath down in a last stand, being slowed by Curse of Tongues.

In a last flicker of hope for Omor, Ossirian feels victory is assured, and casts Enveloping Winds once more to deal with the Felhounds before their master. Omor's chance to Reflect kicks in, and once more Ossirian is surprised to find himself lifted in the air, this time by his own spell. Omor makes a break for another crystal, knowing his current one is about to fade and it is his last hope for survival. However, his luck has given out, and as the winds release Ossirian from their grasp, he regains his Supremacy, thunders towards the cowering Doomguard, and the shout of 'YOU ARE TERMINATED' echoes across the ruined Qiraji city as Omor becomes a corrosive stain on the sand beneath Ossirian's dusty sandals.

A surprisingly eventful match considering the relative strengths of the two bosses, Omor used his abilities well considering Ossirian is effective against a group of 20, let alone a single tough elite and his few minions.

Omor's remains are gathered up by his Illidari trainers and shipped back to Hellfire for piecing back together, and he's certainly going to have a few nasty marks to show for it, leaving tonight's victor retaining the title as:

OSSIRIAN THE UNSCARRED

Round 2: It Hungers! - coming soon
