Mornin Folks

Ok I am on holiday which means I post less and play more.

I have been thinking for a while that I need to start out a discussion on the city and which bits we look for first.

### Skills ###

Ok - well I have a choice of two branches that I think are important to the city. The first - Fiscal Policy allows me to place mission terminals at level1, recruit trainers at level 2 and ultimately allows me to make the city sample rich. (This will help our crafters)

The second - Tourism will allow me to place a shuttleport at level one and other facilities as I progress through the levels. This is important for attracting newer players to the city but not really helpful to us (we all have mounts or vehicles now anyway)

I think the other two branches of the politician tree can wait until I have mastered Fiscal Policy and Tourism. This gives us mission terminals and trainers in our own home city - that should attract people.

####

XP - I keep banging on about this. Every week you should vote for me as mayor. Without that vote I get no xp - no xp = no facilities = useless town.

####

TAXES (eek!)

Right atm it costs a princely sum of 35k a week to have a city hall. I can make this in a day if I am lucky. I think we could cover this ina guild hunting/cash farming session. All we do is pop off together - get 12k missions - 6 12k missions should give us plenty of cash for the guild hall and a little bit of money for a time as well.

This way we don't need to tax and all you need to do is tip me 2000 a week to help pay for civic stuff. All of this money will go into the guild hall and you all get emails when I withdraw cash from the treasury. Please bear in mind that mission terminals etc will cost money to buy so we need to cover the costs of future city expansion with our taxes too.

Cheers

Simon

good post m8 and i agree with it all.

My one point i wanna make.

Being in a PA is Give and Take. People pay that little bit more towards the greater good, but inreturn they enjoy services at a lower rate. Simple as.

My opinion is, If people have an issue with paying their way within the PA, then they are better off leaving.

There's no room for free loaders, or people who are just "out for themselves"

Harsh, but fuck it u know what im like.

The thing you have to remember is that being in the PA doesn't mean being in the city and vice versa, therefor 2 different sets of money need to be worked out as it's unfair to expect city members to pay for the PA hall and unfair for PA members who live outside of the city (Which would make it easier to expand as other properties could also hold vendors) to have to pay for it.

2k a week shouldn't be a problem for me (Although you clearly didn't get the bent politician joke last night) at the moment as I just cracked master tka and master CH last night so I can get sharniff missions from the terminals (Yay more fucking sharnaffs) and take a couple of maulers with me to kung fu their asses. Though I opened my Holo last night and it said I had to master Chef, though I wanted a crafting trade I didn't really consider chef but I've already got people asking me to make them crates of food and as I have the food and chemical crafting station and factory already I think I'm going to have a pop at it once I've had a play with the 2 mauler tka master combo to get me a cash injection and ingredients for the inevitably long grind ahead.

Not really no beans.

Atm the City Hall and PA hall are bundled together because everyone in the city IS in the pa. Tbh I think citizens should pay for our pa hall upkeep. We paid for the city and before non-pa members join we will all have paid to put the facilities in that make them join - why shouldn't we charge the little boogers?

The bent joke went right over my head - too tired tbh and also I hate asking for money - I hate being in a position where I have to go cap in hand to people so I have got 0 sense of humour about the maintenance atm, mainly cos I hoped to do it with taxation rather than /tip. Tipping me is a pain in the arse cos If I am nowhere near the pa when you tip me I need to remember to stick the money into the treasury when I get back to town.

Its gonna take a while before people get anything out of the city - hopefully tomorrow we will have mission terminals in place - but I can't tax them until we get to bleeding village level. At that point I can get the mission terminals to help pay for the cost of the town without asking people for money the whole time.

When we get to around level 3 in Fiscal policy I can make the town sample rich - that will give us loads of resources nearby and give anyone who crafts a real benefit for moving to us.

Like I said - I don't want to make this ball ache - I reckon 2-3 k a week each is pretty doable and I don't mind supporting people who are grinding and have feck all cash - cos I do make a fair bit myself from mineral sale.

being probably the poorest member of the pa I think I should have a say..

I agree with Goose in regards to taxation/routine payment.

I also agree with Vegas. I h8 freeloaders just as much as you m8 and ive left guilds in mmo's before when ive got to the point of to many freeloaders in it. This will become more of a problem when new players start and im glad we can have a taxation rate to make sure they pay their way towards both the city and pa hall.

atm i have approx 10k between 2 chars but see no probs getting 2-3k a week to pay for ammenities..

1st thing we need is our own mission term.. Save me having to actually go anywhere else. :)

one last question .. as i have 2 chars do i have to pay twice or just the once as only one of my chars actually earns any money.

I would also like to throw in this wonderment.

When recruiting for the PA (not city) are we emphasizing that we want people to move in? Or is that a seperate issue?

I personally think we should be quite insistent about new PA members actually moving in, though if they either choose not to have a house or cant afford one/the upkeep of one, I dont think that should affect their enrolement with us. HAving said that if i find out they really have 3 houses on 3 different planets and are just avoiding being taxed i think we may have to act. The city and the PA are seperate but especially atm we need to all pull together. Goose's Xp demands it.

I see no acceptable reason for them not moving in. If they want in the PA, then they support the PA by moving in. imo

You can live in the city but not be a member of the PA. But if you're a PA-member you should live in the city imo.

How's the city going btw? Do I have a lot of new neighbours?

This should be my last message this year because now I'm leaving civilization and will not have access to the internet until next year :) Happy new year all!

Luke
